Common sense tells us that when times are tough, we need to cut wasteful spending while investing wisely for the future. However, there is no "common sense" in Albany, since overall state spending increased by 9% last year.
Common sense tells us that New Yorkers deserve honesty and transparency when Albany is conducting the people's business. However, a few politicians making decisions for all New Yorkers leaves Upstate out in the cold. These issues are not new, and we know what needs to change. We need leadership.
Common sense tells us that New York State's business policies should be business friendly. This must change. We need leadership.
Common sense tells us that the most critical educational decisions should be made locally. I believe we must empower local school districts to make their own decisions regarding how to best educate our children. What works in Long Island might not work in Chili. We need leadership.
